Chapter 3 (Kiara)
“Mia????” I shouted from the kitchen.
“How long will you take to get ready?” I went towards her room, and she was looking like a fairy in that purple frock.
“Awww, my Little Fairy is looking so pretty.” I went to her and picked her up in my arms. She had a sad expression on her face.
“What happened, Sweetie?” I made her sit on the stool in front of the mirror.
“Kiki, I don’t have matching hairclips with my dress.” Mia whined, making me awe at her cuteness.
“Hmmm, that’s a serious problem, baby. But why fear when Kiki is here.” I took out a beautiful hairband with a purple hat on it for her. “Will this work?”
Her eyes lights up after seeing the headband. “Thank you, Kiki. You are the best.” She kissed my cheek and I made her wear the headband.
“You look perfect, my baby. Nazar na lag jaye kisi ki.” I put a kala tikka behind her ear. I know this is called being superstitious. I also used get annoyed when my Amma used to put that kala tikka, the black spot behind my and Didi’s ear to protect us from evil eyes. She always used to say that when you become a mom then you will understand. Now, I understand why she used to do that. I miss my Amma and Baba a lot but I still can’t forgive what they did with my Rachel Didi.
“Kiki? Where are you lost? Why are you crying?” She wiped my tears which I didn’t realized have already made their way out.
“Nothing Baby. Let’s go.” I tried to brush it off.
“Kiki, I know you are missing Nana and Nano. Why don’t you call them? Why are you mad at them? ” Oh God, what should I tell her that her Nana and Nani are the ones who never wanted her parents to be together and when her parents died, her Nana and Nani wanted to take her away from me.
“Baby don’t think about it. You are too young to understand all of this. When you grow up, Kiki is gonna explain everything to you. Till then, please let Kiki handle all the difficult stuff.” I tried explaining it to her but no, she is stubborn like Rachel Didi.
“Kiki, I am old enough to understand that you are sacrificing a lot for me. You don’t go on dates like other women your age. You don’t enjoy your life because you take care of me. Please Kiki, don’t let me ruin your life.” I looked at her bewildered. Who the fuck is teaching her this stuff? Did she talked to Amma and Baba?
No, that’s not possible that I haven’t contacted my parents in 8 years. They don’t even know where I am. Stop being so paranoid, Kiara.
“Mia? Who told you that you are ruining my life? Do you even know the meaning of this word?” I asked her sternly.
“No one did, Kiki. I am eight years old, and I know that I don’t know much but I can see you Kiki. I see other kids; their aunts are also your age, and all are either married or have a boyfriend. They even have a little cousin. I also want a little sibling. I want your happiness Kiki. I also want you to live your life.” She looked down, making me hug her immediately.
“I am sorry, my bacha. Kiki didn’t know that you feel this way. There is a good reason that your Kiki doesn’t dates anyone.” I tried explaining to her how I should tell her that she is really important to me. How can I explain to her that not dating anyone is my choice? How should I tell her that my fears of falling in love is as deep as a pacific ocean?
How to tell her that men are stupid?
Okay, now that’s too much.
Snap out of it, Kiara.
“Kiki? Whatever, the reason is I just want you to know that I am okay with you dating. If you think that I will feel left out, then trust me I won’t. I could really use a family. This will really make me happy.” She snuggled more into me. When did she became so mature? I am so proud of her. I don’t know what to say to her now.
“Aww, my Baby. Kiki really loves you a lot. Thank you for being so understanding.” I kissed her forehead.
“Your always welcome, Kiki. By the way, I have a few men on my list which will be perfect for you.” She giggles.
“Oh no, Mia what have I told you about matchmaking. It’s not something which kids should be doing.”
She smirks and I shook my head. I can’t with this kid.
We both got ready and went to the concert. It was extremely crowded but all thanks to the amount of money I earned I could get ourselves seats in the VIP section.
The concert begins and Jaxon Klein entered the stage. He gave flying kisses to all his fans. Oops, sorry all the Kleinians to be precise. He begins singing his first song and everyone is dancing, lost in the pop music.
“Kiki, I wanted to go near the stage.” She pulls onto my purple shrug.
“Sweetie, it’s too crowded. We might get crumbled up.” I looked at her and saw a pout.
“Okay, my dear. We are going over there.” I carried her in my arms before she gets lost in the crowd.
Everyone were holding purple and blue light stick in their hands. Posters of Jaxon Klein were raised up by the young children and teenage girls, even the woman in their twenties and thirties. I could also see some older women too which is not surprising at all. There is no doubt that how charismatic this man actually. Almost, all the female population in the world is in love with him. He is a British singer, residing in London but keeps travelling all around the world for his concerts and recording.
As I read in the magazines and newspapers, this man also loves the attention from the females as he is seen dating a lot of women. No wonder, he is known as the “Playboy of the Music Industry”. Sometimes, I do wonder that will he ever find a woman for whom he will be ready to leave his playboy life behind.
Wait a minute, why on earth I am thinking about a popstar’s love life?
I moved in the crowd trying to get closer to the stage while Mia was moving her light sticks in the air.
Everyone was watching him, and he is looking at ME!
I looked at him and wait. Did my heart skipped a beat? Did I also held his gaze? My attention got diverted when someone pushed me and she apologized immediately.
We went closer and Mia squealed as she was near the stage to get a clearer view of her favorite singer. I looked at her and smiled. Yes, that’s all I ever wanted.
Mia is my everything and her Kiki is going to make sure that she gets everything she wants.
The crowd was cheering loudly as Jaxon kept singing the mashup of his songs. But the crowd wasn’t squealing for that but was actually waiting for Jaxon to remove his jacket so they could have a little sneak peak of his biceps and he always throws his jacket in the crowd which gets caught by any of his lucky fans.
“Kiki, I really want Jax to throw his jacket towards us so I could catch it.” I smiled and assured her that it would be fine too if she didn’t gets the jacket since she will be getting his autograph later on.
I know there is a 0.000001 % chance that his jacket will come towards our side and yes, I know I vowed that I would try my level best to provide everything to Mia which she wants but she must also learn that she can’t get everything, and she can be fine without it. Reality checks are important too.
Just when I was thinking about chances, something hit my shoulder which Mia caught immediately. It was none other than Jaxon Klein’s jacket. I was stunned. Mia squealed loudly in my arms. “Kiki, I got it.” She hugged the jacket.
Jaxon saw her and waved at her. He came near us and ruffled Mia’s hair who giggled. This made me smile unconsciously because no matter what the media says about him Jaxon Klein actually loves kids wholeheartedly.
